Our Commitment
GoutFoodGuide is committed to providing accurate, evidence-based dietary information. We take errors seriously and correct them promptly when identified. This policy explains how we handle corrections, updates, and user-reported issues.
How to Report an Error
If you believe you have found an error in our data or content, please contact us through our Contact page. For the fastest resolution, include:
- The specific page URL where the error appears
- A clear description of the suspected error
- If possible, a citation to the correct information (e.g., a published study, database reference, or guideline)
What We Correct
We correct the following types of errors:
- Factual errors — Incorrect purine values, fructose values, or food classifications
- Outdated information — Data that has been superseded by newer, published research or updated database releases
- Technical errors — Broken links, display issues, or formatting problems
- Typographical errors — Spelling, grammar, or clarity issues in written content
Correction Process
For verified factual errors:
- We acknowledge receipt of the report within 2 business days
- We verify the error against our source databases and relevant literature
- If confirmed, the correction is applied to our database and the page is regenerated within 24 hours
- The correction is reflected in the sitemap on the next build cycle
For significant corrections to numerical data, we update both the individual food page and any aggregate pages (category pages, ranking pages, comparison pages) that reference the corrected value.
Data Updates
Our purine data is based on published peer-reviewed sources. When a source database is updated (e.g., a new release of the USDA+ODS-NIH PURINE DATABASE), we review the changes and update our data accordingly. Major data updates are noted on the site. Individual food pages display "last reviewed" dates.
Limitations
We do not alter data in response to anecdotal reports or personal experience without supporting published evidence. Purine values can vary between individual food samples due to variety, growing conditions, and preparation — our values represent the best available population-average estimates from published sources. Where a range exists in the literature, we use the most commonly cited value.
Transparency
We do not silently alter content. All substantive corrections are documented, and we maintain a record of significant updates. This commitment to transparency is part of our adherence to Google's E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) standards for health-related content.
